Moldova and European partners are strengthening coordination on transport security and resilience in the Danube Region
Representatives from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development participated in the Quad Meeting, a coordination meeting held within the framework of the European Solidarity Lanes initiative, dedicated to strengthening regional cooperation in transport and enhancing the resilience of critical infrastructure in the context of security challenges in the Danube and Black Sea regions. The meeting analyzed developments related to the security situation in the region and their impact on transport and logistics chains. Participants discussed mechanisms for exchanging information in the event of incidents affecting transport infrastructure, risk prevention and management measures, and actions necessary to prevent pollution in the event of attacks on port infrastructure. A key topic of discussion was the update of the Danube Action Plan 2.0, including the formalization of proposed changes and the identification of needs to ensure the efficient operation of transport during the 2026–2027 winter season. Participants also discussed ways to strengthen operational cooperation between the responsible agencies, including improving emergency communication mechanisms, using the PRIMUS information system, and coordinating repair work on the Danube to ensure effective navigation management. Regarding infrastructure development, discussions focused on access to Danube ports, the state of road and rail infrastructure, and the use of alternative rail routes through Moldova and Romania to maintain the continuity of transport flows and strengthen regional connectivity. The meeting reaffirms the commitment of Moldova and its European partners to strengthen cooperation to develop a safer, more resilient, and better connected transport system within the European network. // 08.07.2026 — InfoMarket
