The EU has suspended macro-financial assistance to Moldova and will reduce the provision of other financial support due to the deteriorating characteristics of the rule of law and democracy in the country
In addition, the European Commission decided to review the nature of its financial assistance and redirect support to projects that have a direct and positive impact on Moldovan citizens. In particular, EU assistance will focus only on actions that directly benefit citizens and support the initiators of change, including the civil society, independent media, reforming local authorities and small and medium businesses.
