Moldova has received a special quota of 50 ECMT multilateral transport permits for 2024 and its total quota will increase by one third.
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, the special quota of 50 ECMT multilateral transport permits was obtained in the context of developments in the region and to support the current situation in international road transport. ECMT is a permit that allows for a certain period of time the carrier to freely carry out its activities among the countries that are members of the ECMT (European Conference of Ministers of Transport). According to the sectoral authority, thus, the quota of permits for Moldova will be increased by 33.3 per cent for the next year and will amount to 200 multilateral ECMT permits (including the basic quota granted annually to Moldova), which, according to multiplication factors, will be transformed into permits for EURO V and EURO VI trucks. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development stated its continued support to the road transportation sector in Moldova and noted that, depending on the development of the security situation in Ukraine, the Ministry will also request a special quota for 2025. The basic quota granted to Moldova annually is 150 ECMT permits. Earlier it was reported that, depending on the developments in Ukraine, the special quota may be extended for the period of 2024-2025, but for no more than 3 consecutive years, in accordance with the rules established under the Multilateral ECMT Quota System. //27.07.2023 - InfoMarket.
