The movement of trains on the route Cahul-Giurgiulesti is closed due to a landslide in one of the sections, trains are redirected to another route.

This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spinu, noting that the reason for the closure of train traffic on the Cahul-Giurgiulesti route since August 22 was landslides that affected the railway infrastructure, or rather, about 350 meters of the railway on the Colibas-Giurgiulesti section. Andrei Spinu specified that, in this way, freight trains will be sent along the route Basarabeasca-Etulia-Reni-Giurgiulesti. "Railway of Moldova" will provide discounts and change the tariffs for freight transportation in this segment in such a way as not to affect the commercial interests of customers. The vice-premier emphasized that the Russian Railways is currently working on eliminating the problem with the designer who participated in the construction of the railway section in 2008. In the near future, geodetic and geological studies will be carried out to find out what causes led to these landslides and how situations can be prevented in the future. The affected section of the railway is subject to rehabilitation - after reliable engineering solutions are found. As Andrei Spinu noted, at the same time, the authorities of Moldova and Ukraine are moving forward in discussions on the transit of trains through the Reni station without customs control. // 30.08.2022 — InfoMarket
