The implementation of the Moldova Road Sector Program IV, for which the EIB allocated 150 million euros, has been discussed by Chisinau authorities.

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development reported that following the ratification of the financing contract between Moldova and the European Investment Bank (EIB) to implement the Moldova Road Sector Program IV Program, the General Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Lilia Dabija, met with Stella Renita, the EIB representative in charge of public sector projects. The discussions were also attended by Sergiu Bejan, director of the State Road Administration, as well as ministry specialists in charge of transport infrastructure. During the meeting, they discussed the design of road sections included in the Program, technical solutions, as well as estimated costs necessary to carry out an audit of road safety and project documentation. Also, the sides discussed the possibility to finance from additional sources the repair of the Cantemir - Giurgiulesti segment of the R34 Hincesti - Leova - Cahul - Giurgiulesti national highway, km 83-km 182, which is not included in the list of roads proposed for rehabilitation within the Moldova Road Sector Program IV Program. As InfoMarket agency earlier reported, EIB will grant Moldova a credit of 150 million euros for the implementation of Moldova Road Sector Program IV Program. The same sum will be provided by the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development to co-finance the project. Besides, the European Union will allocate a grant of 10 million euros for this purpose. With these funds, more than 150 km of priority roads across Moldova will be restored, modernized and expanded, and the modern road infrastructure will bring additional benefits to people and the economy. //23.08.2022 - InfoMarket.
