Some public transport services for the population may be suspended due to lack of necessary funding.
This is stated in the decision of the Commission for Emergency Situations of Chisinau, published on Thursday. The day before, the commission heard a report from the head of the Main Department of Public Transport and Communications and stated the risk of insolvency of the municipal enterprises "City Bus Park" and "Chisinau Electric Transport Department". The decision of the commission states that due to the lack of necessary financial resources, there is a risk that these enterprises will not be able to provide transportation services to the population. At the same time, the commission proposed to the capital's territorial division of the State Chancellery to refuse to annul the decision of the municipal council and the order of the Chisinau general mayor, which relate to the increase in fares for public transport in the capital. This decision of the State Chancellery was also expressed by the Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova (CALM), which believes that the supervisory authority has exceeded its powers and guarantees of decentralization of local public administration, enshrined in legislation. Herewith, it is noted that public transport is within the competence of local authorities, but, despite this, the controlling body, through selective interpretation of the legislation, interferes in the activities of the mayor's office and the municipal council of Chisinau. Recall, by the decisions of the Municipal Council and the General Mayor of Chisinau, from July 1 in Chisinau, the fare for trolleybuses and buses should increase to 6 lei (instead of 2 and, respectively, 3 lei).// 30.06.2022 — InfoMarket
