The Association of Road Hauliers demands urgent control in mixed teams at the Moldovan-Romanian border.
The respective letter was sent by the association to Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita. Hauliers insist on the introduction of mixed controls at least at the Leuseni-Albita border crossing point. It is noted that the authorities had previously announced the negotiation of a bilateral agreement on the establishment of mixed-teams checkpoints at the Moldovan-Romanian border at the above-mentioned checkpoint, but this was not done. Also, the Association of Road Hauliers stressed the need to diversify phytosanitary control at the border, so that this control would be organized also at the customs following posts Costesti-Stinca, Cahul-Oancea, Otaci-Moghilev and Palanca-Mayaki. The organization of phytosanitary control at these customs posts will significantly improve the flow of trucks at Sculeni, Leuseni and Tudora customs posts. Despite the uncertainty of regional security, the association draws attention to the fact that heavy traffic at the Moldovan-Romanian border will continue to increase, so ignoring this problem will lead to a worsening of the border situation. The problem of congestion on the border for trucks can be solved only by combining the joint efforts of the Customs Service, the Border Police, and the National Agency for Food safety and by intensifying the dialogue with the Romanian and Ukrainian customs authorities. It should be reminded that accumulation of transport units at Moldovan-Romanian border began to increase with activation of transit traffic from Ukraine through Moldova, especially grain traffic. This problem not only caused long queues at the Moldovan-Romanian checkpoints, but also affected both export and transit, as well as import to Moldova from Ukraine. // 24.08.2022 - InfoMarket.
