About 578 million lei was allocated for the payment of compensations for energy resources in March, and a total of 2.7 billion lei for the cold period of the year

Labor and Social Protection Minister Alexei Buzu told a news conference on Wednesday that 720 thousand families - 1.5 million people - received compensations. In particular, the beneficiaries were more than 339 thousand families that heat their dwellings with solid fuel, about 216 thousand families that use natural gas as a source of heat, 127 thousand families that use central heating and 36 thousand families that use electricity. In March, the maximum amount of compensations amounted to 1400 lei, while the average amount of compensations amounted to 805 lei. At the same time, the average compensation during the cold season this year amounted to 772 lei. For this year's cold season (November 2024-March 2025), the authorities allocated a total of 2.69 billion lei from the compensation budget, of which 1.15 billion lei was provided by partner states, mainly EU countries. This year, more than 400 thousand consumers registered in the Ajutor la Contor (Help at the Meter) system. Also this season, more than 12.1 thousand vulnerable families received vouchers worth 6 thousand lei or more for the purchase of energy-efficient equipment. According to Alexei Buzu, March is the last month for the payment of monetary compensation for energy resources, starting from the next month consumers will receive only compensation for electricity in bills - up to 110 kW. This compensation covers the difference between the regulated price and the reference price up to the maximum limit of 1.84 lei/kWh, applicable to the volume of energy consumed monthly, but within the maximum limit of 110 kWh. This volume represents 80% of the average monthly electricity consumption of one family. The compensation in the electricity bill is provided regardless of whether the consumer was registered in the Ajutor la Control system or not. // 09.04.2025 - InfoMarket
