The European Union has launched a new initiative, EU Accelerator 2.0, to empower Moldovan youth in the field of European integration

As reported by the Permanent Representation of the European Union in our country, this is a new platform for involving young people in the European integration process. More than 80 young people from 8 localities in Moldova took part in its launch in Chisinau at the end of last week. The event, organized with the financial support of the European Union, marked the start of a program designed to develop the potential of young people so that they can actively promote European values and Moldova's European integration course. Over the course of 2 days, young people who are members of Euroclubs and the EU information center network participated in interactive sessions, practical workshops and team-building events. Lilia Duca, Coordinator of the EU Info Centres and Euroclubs Network, stressed the importance of the initiative, noting that EU Accelerator 2.0 is a leading platform for young people who want to actively contribute to Moldova’s European future. The programme not only provides a wealth of useful information about the EU, but also encourages critical thinking, cooperation and civic engagement, helping young people become agents of change. The topics covered included the EU’s core values, countering disinformation, developing critical thinking and advocacy skills. Young people were also involved in team building programmes and debates on Moldova’s European integration course. Participation in the event helped young people better understand how the EU functions and why European integration is critically important for Moldova. The event ended with a session on planning the next steps. During the event, the young people outlined their action strategies for 2025. They will implement educational initiatives, information campaigns and local events aimed at strengthening support for the idea of European integration. The programme’s trainer, Sergiu Cibotaru, drew attention to the importance of the active role that these young people can play in their communities. According to him, thanks to EU Accelerator 2.0, young people not only learn about the European Union, but also begin to truly promote European values, and through their active participation, they can contribute to a better understanding of the integration process and counteract false narratives. EU Accelerator 2.0 will continue: a number of training sessions are planned, experiences will be exchanged, and events in the field of civic engagement will be held. All this will be organised in various regions of Moldova. Young people will have the opportunity to apply their accumulated knowledge at the local level, promoting European values and supporting efforts to correctly inform the public. The aim of EU Accelerator 2.0 is to support young people in Moldova by providing them with the necessary knowledge, skills and motivation to actively contribute to the country’s European integration process. Through a well-designed programme combining training, engagement and research, the initiative aims to build a youth community that will support constructive debates on the EU at the local level. By developing the skills of young people who clearly understand the EU’s values, institutions and policies, EU Accelerator 2.0 aims to counter fake narratives and disinformation, promote critical thinking among young people and encourage dialogue on Moldova’s path towards European integration. The initiative aims to ensure a long-term impact, transform young people into leaders of change and strengthen support for Moldova’s European future. // 24.03.2025 — InfoMarket.
