Moldova: in the 2024-2025 heating season, energy compensation will be provided to low-income consumers in monetary terms
According to the press service of the Parliament, this is stipulated by the relevant amendments to the Law on the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund, approved by the Commission for Social Protection, Health and Family. The draft law, which envisages a change in the procedure of granting energy compensations, will be proposed for consideration at the plenary session of the parliament. According to the document, the government will establish a methodology for calculating the amount of compensations for vulnerable consumers, based on the data of the “Energy Vulnerability” information system. Another provision concerns the simplification of the administration of the compensation system, which will help reduce the administrative burden on energy suppliers, who previously managed the calculation and application of compensations, and ensure greater transparency in the distribution of compensations. The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection will be responsible for setting and calculating compensations, ensuring a more streamlined and efficient process. In this heating season, the concept of “energy vulnerability category” will not be used. Compensation will be calculated based on the specific energy vulnerability of each individual household. At the same time, households will be encouraged to use energy more efficiently, as unspent funds from compensation can be redirected to other needs. // 07.11.2024 – InfoMarket
