The Ministry of Finance and UN Women Moldova will strengthen partnership in the field of gender-responsive budgeting

The announcement was made during a meeting between Finance Minister Victoria Belous and UN Women Representative in Moldova Dominika Stojanoska. A gender-responsive budget is a budget that works for all (women and men, girls and boys), ensuring a gender-equitable distribution of resources and promoting equal opportunities for all. During the meeting, the officials emphasized the achievements gained from the cooperation and discussed future initiatives aimed at promoting gender-responsive budgeting, which is a priority task stipulated in the Public Finance Management Strategy for 2023-2030. Victoria Belous emphasized the importance of UN Women's support for the development of gender-responsive public finance management. She confirmed the willingness of the Ministry of Finance to cooperate in the development of policies and programs to ensure the effective application of these principles. Dominika Stojanoska reiterated the willingness of UN Women to continue supporting the efforts of the Ministry of Finance and the Moldovan authorities to promote gender-responsive budgeting and realize the objectives set out in the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two parties. On September 18, 2023, the Moldovan Ministry of Finance and UN Women signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at integrating gender-responsive budgeting into national policies and budget planning processes. This partnership is essential to ensure inclusive and equitable governance that meets the needs of all citizens, in line with international gender equality standards. // 06.11.2024 – InfoMarket
