From November 4 to 28, citizens can register on the website compensatii.gov.md to receive compensation for heat and electricity costs
The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection announced the beginning of registration of consumers for assistance under the Ajutor la control (Help at the Meter) state program, who wish to receive compensation for the cold season 2024-2025 (November-March). All households heated with natural gas, thermal energy, electricity or solid fuel (wood, coal, pellets, briquettes) are eligible for the program. In order to ensure the correct distribution of compensation, as the Ministry notes, the Energy Vulnerability information system carefully checks the data entered by applicants, accessing financial, real estate and border crossing information held by state agencies such as the State Tax Service, the National Social Insurance Fund, the Border Police, etc. Citizens are advised to be cautious of possible fraud situations and not to provide personal and financial information when answering unsolicited calls and messages. To receive compensation, all consumers must apply, regardless of whether they were previously registered with the system. The application can be submitted online, through the platform compensatii.gov.md or with the help of registrars, social workers, and by requesting the service of mobile teams. For the safety of beneficiaries, the transmission of confidential data is carried out exclusively on the official platform compensatii.gov.md or with a local social worker. During the cold season, applications can be submitted at any time, but no compensation will be paid for the previous months. For example, to receive compensation for November, applicants need to register on the platform compensatii.gov.md until November 28. It is noted that in the cold period of 2023-2024, more than 750 thousand households received compensation, almost 1/3 of which were heated with wood. More than half of the beneficiary households registered in the system with the help of registrars. In the previous cold season, the program received financial support from Italy, Sweden and the Czech Republic. This year, UNDP, Italy and other development partners continue to provide support during the 2024-2025 cold season to ensure the functioning of the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund and its support unit, IT system upgrades, and call center operations. As a reminder, the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund was established in 2022 by the government with support from the European Union, Slovakia and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). Since its launch, almost 900,000 households (about 75% of the total number of households in Moldova) have received compensation on their bills. According to UNDP estimates, the compensations have reduced energy poverty by 43%, having the greatest impact on supporting vulnerable families. // 04.11.2024 - InfoMarket
