During the first session of the Household Appliance Voucher Program, 3116 vulnerable Moldovan families replaced old and energy-intensive appliances with new and energy-efficient ones
The program is implemented by the National Center for Sustainable Energy and the Ministry of Energy, financed from the state budget, with the support of the European Union. During the session held from September 30 to October 20, vouchers worth 7,000 lei for consumers with extreme energy vulnerability and worth 6,000 lei for people with very high vulnerability were provided. The beneficiaries purchased 1,700 refrigerators and 1,416 energy-efficient washing machines in the program's partner stores: Enter, Bomba, Maximum, Ultra, Hi-Tech and A-Tehno. Since the session began, the National Center for Sustainable Energy's Green Line has received more than 5,790 calls from beneficiaries. They have also turned in old equipment for recycling, supporting environmental protection through responsible collection and management of e-waste. Priority in the program was given to large families, people with special needs and the elderly. After replacing old appliances, households will benefit from significant long-term savings on their bills, which will promote energy efficiency across the country. “This program demonstrates that household energy efficiency and environmental protection can go hand in hand. It is an initiative that has demonstrated the ability to deliver value by having a direct and rapid impact on beneficiaries' energy bills, helping to reduce beneficiaries' energy poverty,” said Ion Muntean, Director of the National Center for Sustainable Energy. This Center will continue to offer new classes, giving other families the opportunity to reduce their energy consumption and contribute to a sustainable future. // 23.10.2024 - InfoMarket.
