31022 pensioners will receive a lump-sum payment of 2300 lei under the new program of support for pensioners
The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection announced this, noting that this program was elaborated with the help of development partners, and the lump-sum payment will be given to pensioners who, at the moment of retirement, had a minimum length of service of 40 years, and now their pension is below 3300 lei. The listed criteria are met by 31022 pensioners. The lump-sum payment will be provided to them automatically, i.e. the beneficiaries will not have to go to the National Social Insurance Office and submit any application or provide supporting documents. The payment will be available at post offices nationwide starting in the first days of November. To receive the single payment, pensioners of the listed categories will present their ID card at the post office. In addition, all beneficiary pensioners will receive notices from the government informing them of the payment and addresses to receive the funds. As noted by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, at the moment in Moldova the minimum labor experience is 34 years. The mentioned 31 thousand pensioners worked in sectors with low wages and received the minimum pension, or a pension below 3300 lei. For this reason, this category was selected to grant them more support from the Government. The government implemented a similar program in 2023, under which 56,000 pensioners received a lump-sum payment of 3,000 lei. The ministry specified that since 2021, the government managed to increase the average pension by 90 per cent, from 2067 to 3926 lei, and the minimum pension by 143 per cent, from 1143 lei to 2778 lei at present, with both cases registering an increase above the cumulative inflation rate. // 09.10.2024 – InfoMarket
