Moldova will allocate more than 12 million lei to compensate transportation expenses of 3,000 medical workers laboring in other settlements

The government adopted this decision by approving the Regulation on the procedure of establishing and paying compensation for transportation expenses (back and forth travel between home and workplace) of medical and pharmaceutical workers. According to the document, the authorities will compensate transportation costs to medical and pharmaceutical workers who work in state institutions in other settlements. According to the Ministry of Health, currently about 3,000 medical workers pay the cost of traveling to work at their own expense. Compensation will be paid to them in order to retain employees in the institutions to which they were assigned. “For us the priority is to retain medical personnel in the system, especially in rural areas, small towns, where the deficit of human resources is much greater than in cities,” Health Minister Ala Nemereno specified. According to her, thus, the implementation of the decision on compensation of transportation costs will contribute to the provision of medical and sanitary institutions with the necessary staff, and citizens will have access to quality medical services. A total of 12.36 million lei will be allocated for compensations. The money is included in the Health Ministry's budget, as well as in the budgetary forecast for the 2025-2027 medium-term period // 16.10.2024 - InfoMarket.
