Moldova and Denmark will sign a Memorandum of Cooperation on Sustainable Energy to promote renewable energy sources and improve energy efficiency

This was discussed during a meeting between Moldovan State Secretary for Energy Cristina Pereteatcu and Danish Ambassador to Moldova Søren Jensen According to the Ministry of Energy, the discussion was aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of sustainable energy, in particular in the context of preparing a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Energy of Moldova and the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities of Denmark. This document is intended to lay the foundation for strategic cooperation in the promotion of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency. During the meeting, particular attention was paid to modern technologies in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions, taking into account Moldova's goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and strengthening its energy security. At the same time, Denmark, through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has supported the Ministry of Energy in developing a law on innovative testing spaces in energy regulation (Sandbox). In this context, strengthening cooperation in this area was discussed, including through the promotion of innovation and testing of advanced technological solutions. The intention to expand cooperation with Denmark in the field of cybersecurity, in particular to protect critical energy infrastructure, was also noted. In this regard, the Danish Embassy announced that a mission involving Danish companies from the energy sector would be organized in Chisinau in the fall of 2025. The visit will include a seminar on centralized heating systems, to which Moldovan companies will also be invited to share their experiences. Cristina Pereteatcu expressed the Moldovan government's gratitude for Denmark's openness and continued support for the modernization of the energy sector. "Denmark is a role model in the field of renewable energy, and the support and openness to cooperation from Danish partners is particularly valuable for Moldova. We want this cooperation to translate into concrete projects, knowledge, and technology transfer that will contribute to the modernization of the energy sector and the achievement of European climate and energy goals," said the State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy. // 08.08.2025 – InfoMarket.
