Fuel prices in Moldova are decreasing for the 2nd week in a row and during this period the price for gasoline decreased by 0.97 lei/l, and for diesel fuel - by 0.74 lei/l
The National Agency Energy Regulation (NAER) reported this, announcing a new significant decrease in fuel prices. The energy regulator emphasizes that the downward trend is mainly due to the decline in global crude oil prices, which have reached their lowest level since December 2021 and are now hovering around $69 per barrel. The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and its OPEC+ allies, including Russia, decided to maintain their plan to increase production by 138 thousand bpd in April, which would be the first increase since 2022. As a result, Platts quotes for petroleum products have fallen significantly recently, by about 13% for gasoline and 10% for diesel. At the same time, in Moldova, the national currency exchange rate against the U.S. dollar appreciated by about 3%. Under these conditions, NAER set the following maximum retail prices for basic standard oil products for the period of March 8-10: gasoline COR 95 - 23.64 lei/liter (-19 bani); standard diesel fuel - 20.61 lei/liter (-16 bani). NAER stated that it continues to follow the developments on the international oil exchanges and assures consumers that the current mechanism is extremely transparent and guarantees maximum fairness in the formation of prices for oil products. // 07.03.2025 - InfoMarket.
