Moldova has reached a renewable energy production capacity of 617 MW, which is more than 2 times higher than the combined capacity of CHPPs in Chisinau and Balti
Government's press service reported this, noting that Prime Minister Dorin Recean visited a wind farm in Suruceni village, Ialoveni district, which is among the companies that will be authorized to connect to the power grid by the decision of the Commission for Emergency Situations (CNESP) in December 2024. Prime Minister emphasized the important contribution of the renewable energy sector to the management of the energy situation, the development of which is necessary to cover the electricity consumption and ensure long-term energy independence. The 1.5MW plant is owned by General Eco Energy of Suruceni. It was commissioned after CNESP simplified the process of obtaining grid connection permits to maximize the use of available renewable power generation capacity. CNESP order concerned 10 companies that have already installed renewable energy power plants with a total capacity of 31 MW. Thanks to these plants, Moldova has reached a renewable energy generation capacity of 617 MW, which is more than twice the combined capacity of the CHPPs in Chisinau and Balti.// 07.03.2025 - InfoMarket
