Moldova will join the International Convention for the Suppression of Counterfeiting Currency
This is envisaged by the draft ratification of the relevant agreement, which the parliament plans to adopt. Members of the National Security, Defense and Public Order Commission have reviewed this document and will propose its approval at a plenary session. The agreement will enable cooperation between Moldova and other states to stop currency counterfeiting, both in our country and internationally. According to the provisions of the Convention, any activity related to the production or fraudulent modification of currency, the circulation of counterfeit currency, the import into the country, receipt or acquisition of counterfeit currency, etc. will be classified as a crime. The draft law also provides for the creation of a central national office that will work with specialists from currency issuing institutions and police agencies to prevent and punish crimes related to currency counterfeiting. At the same time, an international central office will be created that will maintain close contact with offices in other countries and will centralize information that will facilitate the investigation, prevention and punishment of counterfeit coins. The International Convention for the Suppression of Counterfeiting Currency was signed on April 20, 1929 in Geneva.// 17.12.2024 — InfoMarket.
