Moldova will stimulate fertilizer production from local resources to reduce dependence on imports - Agriculture Ministry
As reported by the ministry, this is envisaged by the draft Law on the Rules for Placing Fertilizers on the Market, approved by the government. This legislative initiative is designed to encourage domestic producers to use recycled and organic materials to produce various types of fertilizers in accordance with EU standards. The main goal of the bill is to standardize production rules, reduce the country's dependence on fertilizer imports, and ensure better functioning of the domestic market and equal conditions for fertilizer producers and importers, especially those produced from domestic raw materials. "We want farmers to have access to cheaper fertilizers produced locally from organic raw materials, thereby supporting the development of a circular economy. This approach benefits the economy, protects the environment and ensures a sustainable future for our agriculture," said Ludmila Catlabuga, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry. According to her, the law will also allow local producers to gain access to other markets, which will contribute to the growth of production, exports and competitiveness of Moldovan products. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, Moldova annually imports mineral fertilizers worth about $120.8 million in the absence of local production platforms.// 11.12.2024 — InfoMarket.
