Over the last few years, Moldova has increased exports of plums to the UK 15 times, apples 5 times and grapes about 3 times

The Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization reported this, noting that Moldovan products are becoming more and more popular on the UK market, especially after the UK abolished import duties in July 2023 and offered free movement of a number of agricultural products from Moldova, and extended this measure for another 5 years from May 2024. According to the agency, Moldovan plums first appeared on the shelves of British stores in 2022, and apples - in 2023. As a result, exports of Moldovan plums to the UK increased 15 times - from 45 tons in 2022 to 681 tons in 2024, apples - 4.6 times: from 101 tons in 2023 to 465 tons in 2024, grapes - 2.7 times: from 150.3 tons in 2022 to 408.7 tons in 2024. “We are proud of the work and results of Moldovan producers! At the same time, we are working to move to the next level - to create and export as many value-added products as possible. That means more profits and more well-paid jobs right here at home. We are grateful to our British friends for their openness and support! Together we are building a strong and sustainable economy,” the Moldovan Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization stressed. // 28.03.2025 - InfoMarket
