The first Moldovan tomatoes totaling 22.3 tons entered the EU market in 2024 - Dumitru Alaiba

Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization announced this, noting that the volume of tomatoes supplies to the EU market is still modest, but there is a great potential. Dumitru Alaiba emphasized that tomatoes are among the group of 7 agricultural products from Moldova, which have free access to the EU. “So far the matter concerns shipments of 22.3 tons. Although this is a modest figure, it is a start. Any great success starts with small steps. For example, it was the same with cherries: from 38 tons in 2019 to 1,830 tons in 2024, which is up 48 times, because Moldova is able to do this!” Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization said. He urged citizens to appreciate the success of these entrepreneurs, noting that every exported ton means jobs, salaries and a real chance for families who decided to stay and build here houses. “Today there are few families making money from this, tomorrow there will be hundreds. Everything starts somewhere, and we are on the right path,” emphasized Dumitru Alaiba. // 07.03.2025 - InfoMarket.
