Two regional customs posts Chisinau-1 (PVI, Industriala) and Chisinau-2 (PVI, Cricova) are to be relocated outside Chisinau municipality
The Customs Service came up with such an initiative, noting that this will contribute to streamlining traffic flows, optimizing customs processes and creating more efficient conditions for companies' activity. In this regard, the agency proposes to build a new customs terminal near the capital, equipped with temporary warehouses, ramps for checking trucks, parking lots and other modern facilities necessary for customs activities. The implementation of this project will at the same time make it possible to transfer customs clearance operations from the border to the terminal, reduce the load on border posts and increase the efficiency of customs processes. The initiative is now in the initial stage of analysis and planning, and the Customs Service will consult with development partners to identify the most effective technical and logistical solutions needed to implement the project. Moldovan Customs Service head Alexandru Iacub voiced the idea at a meeting with a delegation from the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), noting that the modernization of customs infrastructure is a priority for the agency, and moving customs posts outside the capital is a strategic goal of the Customs Service. “By applying advanced technological solutions and focusing on international best practices, we aim to provide a more efficient and predictable working environment for economic agents,” the Customs Service head said. UNOPS representatives expressed their readiness to support the modernization process, including by providing technical assistance and facilitating access to resources for the development of this project. // 27.02.2025 - InfoMarket.
