USAID projects help Moldovan fruit producers meet the requirements of European importers and become competitive on the Western market.
USAID Moldova reports that thanks to such assistance from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Moldovan plums, in particular, are expanding their presence in the European market year after year. To Germany alone, plum exports from Moldova increased from 220 tons to about 5,500 tons in 2017-2022. Now Moldovan plums account for 30-40% of the total volume of plums imported by Germany. As USAID Moldova notes, these figures are the result of the synergy of efforts by Moldovan producers, exporters, industry associations and state authorities, supported by development partners and the trust of the EU, which has provided an export quota for Moldovan plums. // 12.01.2023 - InfoMarket.
