The Farmers' Power Association (Forța Fermierilor) asks the authorities to introduce a specific margin for wholesale sales of petroleum products not exceeding 1.5 lei per liter and to return to the mechanism of refunding excise duties to farmers for the purchased diesel fuel.
The Association said this in a statement and drew attention to the fact that due to the increase in the specific trade margin and excise taxes the prices of diesel fuel had significantly increased. In this context, Forta Fermierilor Association notes that discrimination against farmers in the sale of petroleum products necessary for the production of agricultural products continues. It is emphasized that at present, for unknown reasons, there is practically no difference in price when buying diesel fuel in bulk and at gas stations, which contradicts all commercial practices. Although it is clear that wholesale prices of diesel fuel do not depend on the costs of transporting fuel to gas stations, the salaries of gas station operators and local taxes, agricultural producers are forced to buy diesel fuel in large quantities without any discounts on bulk purchases. "At the same time, farmers entered the New Year without a framework law on subsidies, without the Regulation on measures to support the agricultural sector and, indirectly, without certainty regarding the reimbursement to farmers of excise duties on purchased diesel fuel. As a result, the cost burden on agricultural production will increase," says the Association. Based on this, Forta Fermierilor demands that the authorities introduce in the legislation a special margin for wholesale of petroleum products, which would not exceed 1.5 lei per liter, and also return to the mechanism of refunding excise duties to farmers for the purchased diesel fuel. // 03.01.2023 - InfoMarket.
