In the next 5 years, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will invest about $50 million in our country to support value-added agriculture.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, in order to determine the priorities and tasks of cooperation, a meeting was held between the head of the department, Vladimir Bolea, and the coordinators of the USAID project "Competitiveness and Sustainability of Rural Areas of Moldova", within which investments will be made. It is noted that the funds will be directed to the sphere of horticulture, beekeeping, organic farming, winemaking and tourism. The parties determined that the main beneficiaries of the investment will be agricultural producers, small wine producers, wineries, tourism enterprises, industry associations, etc. The minister said that the agency will expand and strengthen cooperation between institutions managing agriculture in our country. He stressed that increasing productivity in agriculture is a priority on the ministry's agenda. The Ministry advocates the creation of a competitive business environment capable of providing agricultural products and services with high added value. For this reason, the Minister considers it necessary to pay increased attention to the training of personnel and the promotion of research and innovation. In this context, the parties agreed that within the framework of the USAID project, educational and research institutions in the field of agriculture, viticulture and tourism will be created. At the same time, the project includes a component of improving the relevant legal and regulatory framework. Recall that the Rural Competitiveness and Resilience project was developed to increase the resilience of the country's agricultural sector by mitigating the negative impact of climate change and is aimed at stimulating a sustainable and comprehensive recovery of the country affected by the regional crisis. // 29.11.2022 — InfoMarket
