The International Finance Corporation will expand its cooperation with the Moldovan Customs Service and continue to provide technical assistance to accelerate the fulfillment of commitments made as part of the European integration process in the customs sphere

This was discussed during a meeting between the Customs Service management and representatives of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), member of the World Bank Group, to assess joint activities and identify new priorities for bilateral cooperation. Over the past year, the Customs Service has received technical assistance from the IFC in the form of training on harmonizing national legislation with European legislation, applying customs procedures, and introducing digital tools for international trade. Customs Service Director Radu Vrabie expressed his gratitude for the international expertise provided with the support of the IFC, which contributed to strengthening institutional capacity in the process of implementing new customs legislation and adjusting the relevant regulatory framework. The central topic of discussion was the digital transformation of the customs authority in terms of the need to develop and adjust information systems to ensure their compatibility with European platforms and compliance with EU data requirements. The parties also considered areas of cooperation for the near future, with a particular focus on capacity building and modernization of the national customs system, which will ultimately contribute to a more predictable and simpler business environment. For their part, IFC representatives confirmed their readiness to expand areas of cooperation and continue providing technical assistance to accelerate the implementation of commitments made as part of the European integration process in the customs sphere. // 26.02.2026 – InfoMarket.
