The new German Ambassador to Moldova, Hubert Knirsch, get acquainted with the infrastructure and current activities of the Giurgiulești port
They were presented by the CEO of Danube Logistics, Mathias von Tucher. The discussions focused on the development and growth prospects of the port, as well as aspects related to the investment climate in Moldova. Mathias von Tucher confirmed Germany's gratitude for the ongoing support provided to Moldova in the process of integration into the EU. The port of Giurgiulești is the only point of direct access to international maritime transport in the country, managed by I.C.S. Danube Logistics, and the owner of the Danube Logistics group of companies is the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. In 2021, the EBRD acquired 100% of the capital of the Danube Logistics group of companies, becoming the sole ultimate owner of Danube Logistics, the port operator. The port of Giurgiulești is located on a section of the Danube with an accessible water depth of up to 7 m and can accommodate both inland waterway vessels and seagoing vessels. As Moldova's main port, Giurgiulești handles more than 70% of import and export trade via inland waterways, providing supply chains for various types of goods, bringing significant benefits to the Moldovan economy and playing a key role in its future growth. The port's strategic role in the region has grown, and it has every opportunity to serve Ukraine's future recovery. // 23.10.2025 — InfoMarket.
