The Entry/Exit System (EES) will be implemented from October 12 at EU external border crossings to record data on third-country nationals
The Moldovan Border Police has announced that with the introduction of the EES, Moldovan citizens will undergo an automated procedure that includes scanning travel documents, collecting biometric data (facial images and fingerprints), and creating an individual electronic file in the EES. Children under 12 years of age and persons who are physically unable to provide fingerprints are exempt from fingerprinting. The Border Police clarifies that Moldovan citizens traveling on the basis of a Moldovan biometric passport will be subject to the new EES rules, while citizens who also have EU or Schengen area citizenship and are traveling with a document from that country are not subject to the EES system and will not undergo the procedure. To avoid possible delays or misunderstandings when crossing the external border of the Schengen Agreement, the agency recommends that citizens get acquainted with the new procedures and requirements in advance (https://travel-europe.europa.eu/ro/ees) and check the validity of their biometric passports and other travel documents. // 07.10.2025 – InfoMarket.
