
The new road bridge across the Prut River, which is being built near Ungheni, is scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2026
As reported by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, the head of the department, Vladimir Bolea, visited the bridge construction site, where work is being carried out on both banks of the Prut River. On the Romanian and Moldovan sides, the construction of the bridge structure is being completed, and work is underway to strengthen the foundations and piles. During a conversation with builders, designers, and everyone involved in this strategic project, Vladimir Bolea emphasized the importance of complying with quality standards and deadlines so that the bridge can be put into operation by the end of next year. Earlier it was reported that the ceremony to launch the construction of a new road bridge across the Prut River, which will connect the settlements of Zagarancea in the Ungheni district of Moldova and Golăiești in the Iași county of Romania, took place on April 26, 2025. It will be the first bridge built across the Prut River in the last 60 years and will be part of the Romanian “Unification Highway” (Autostrada Unirii) A8 - Târgu Mureș-Iași-Ungheni, and in Moldova - part of the R1 Ungheni-Chișinău highway.
