Chisinau International Airport administration has announced ambitious plans to develop and improve passenger services
During a press conference on Friday, the interim airport administrator Sergiu Spoiala and the director of the Public Property Agency, Roman Cojuhari, presented plans aimed at modernizing and optimizing the airport's operation, focusing on improving the quality of passenger service. In particular, it is planned to expand the passenger terminal, and this is the most important project to increase the capacity and improve the passenger traffic, as well as to ensure international criteria of passenger security. As of March 1, 2025, Chisinau International Airport will also take over the management of restaurants and cafes on its premises, which will ensure greater profitability of the premises and increased revenues, as well as reinvestment in the modernization of the airport and an efficient financial circuit. The proceeds are expected to be used for aviation infrastructure development. The airport authority promises to ensure the shortest possible process for the transition of the catering areas to the new management to reduce passenger discomfort. In addition, it is planned to take over and modernize the International Airport in Marculesti. This decision aims to use the potential of this infrastructure for the development of air transportation in Moldova. “The changes we are announcing today are just the beginning of a transformation process aimed at creating a modern, efficient and competitive airport where passengers can benefit from quality services and a better travel experience. We are determined to move forward in this process and ensure open communication with all parties involved,” Sergiu Spoiala emphasized. Let us remind you that Chisinau International Airport was taken over by the state two years ago, after being under concession to Avia Invest for 10 years. The agreement was officially terminated due to the concessionaire's failure to fulfill its investment obligations. // 28.02.2025 - InfoMarket
