The construction of the bypass road in Vulcanesti on the M3 Chisinau-Comrat-Giurgiulesti-border with Romania highway is 55% complete
This was reported by the government press service, noting that Prime Minister Dorin Recean visited the construction site on Thursday and stated that the project is being implemented in accordance with the established plan. The head of the Cabinet stressed that the authorities will continue to monitor the progress of the work to ensure compliance with all standards, and about 12 thousand residents of Vulcanesti will have access to the modernized infrastructure. "The implementation of the project will help relieve traffic in the city, improve road safety and stimulate the economic development of the southern region of the country, including improving communication with the Giurgiulesti port," Dorin Recean said. The construction works of the 8.58 km long Vulcanesti bypass road started in September 2023. The bypass road will divert heavy transit transport away from Vulcanesti, eliminating noise pollution for local residents and reducing air pollution in the city. The road will also shorten the route to Giurgiulesti Port for carriers. The Vulcanesti bypass road is being built by the Ukrainian company Automagistral Pivden LLC, with which a contract for the relevant construction works was signed on 13 June 2023. According to the contract, the completion date is February 2026. The construction of the 8.58 km long highway is being financed by a EUR 21.2 million loan from the EBRD. The M3 road is the shortest and most important route from Chisinau to Giurgiulesti, providing access to the Danube and the Black Sea. The M3 corridor is also part of the European corridor E577 Poltava-Kirovohrad-Chisinau-Giurgiulesti-Galati-Slobozia. The Ukrainian company Avtomagistral Yug was selected to perform the work following a tender. The company had previously participated in the repair of other roads in Moldova. // 20.02.2025 — InfoMarket
