All public catering areas at the Chisinau airport will be under the management of the enterprise's administration as of March 1
This was announced at a press conference on Friday by the interim administrator of the “Chisinau International Airport” state enterprise, Sergiu Spoiala. According to him, as it was announced earlier, from March 1, the public catering areas at the airport will be served by the state enterprise. “I want to be clear: we are not talking about changing the tenant, but about the fact that the enterprise itself will serve the catering zone. This decision was adopted by the management of the Chisinau International Airport, which is, besides the administrator, the administration council and the founder. This decision was not taken 2-3 days ago, and we warned Aerofood on February 7 that it should vacate the airport premises it rents,” he said, noting that the state can and should receive the income of a private company in the catering area of the airport. At the same time, Sergiu Spoiala pointed out that the company announced its offer on the rent price on February 15, while the day before it launched an information campaign against the airport administration. While answering journalists' questions about the airport's readiness to serve the catering zone, the head of the airport and the director of the Public Property Agency Roman Cojuhari assured that the company has the necessary potential to organize adequate conditions in the catering zone. They apologized in advance to the passengers for possible inconveniences during the transition period, which will last 1-2 weeks, depending on how the tenant company will behave. They also did not rule out continuing the campaign to denigrate the airport administration and the catering services to be provided. At the same time, Aerofood issued a new message to the media, accusing the airport authority and the Public Property Agency of abusing and manipulating public opinion on the issue of regulating the process of vacating commercial premises. The company said that it does not create and does not intend to create any obstacles for the release of commercial premises - Plai Restaurant (2nd floor), Aero Cafe and Business Lounge, located in the sterile zone of the airport, while the company serves passengers and organizes the removal of owned property at the same time. Aerofood alleges that the airport failed to appoint its representatives to the property transfer-acceptance committee within the stipulated time frame. The company is demanding that the airport authority comply with legal provisions by ensuring that the commission has access and conducts the evacuation procedure in accordance with the law. “Unreasonable delay of this process may have a negative impact not only on commercial activities, but also on the comfort of passengers, which have always been and remain a priority for us,” the company said. // 28.02.2025 - InfoMarket
