Chisinau airport has received the ILS CAT III certificate, allowing flights in difficult weather conditions and dense fog
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, this means safer and more predictable flights in any weather, no delays or route changes due to fog and poor visibility, faster and more efficient air traffic. The project was implemented by Chisinau Airport and MOLDATSA. The actions were coordinated by the Moldovan Civil Aviation Authority. According to the capital's airport administration, since January 23, Chisinau airport officially enters the category of airports equipped with ILS CAT III instrument landing system. This certification allows flights in extremely low visibility conditions, removing previous restrictions and significantly contributing to the reduction of flight delays and cancelations. The ILS CAT III system provides pilots with accurate course and altitude information during landing, even when visibility is near zero. The ILS CAT III allows landing in conditions with vertical visibility from 30 to 0 meters and horizontal visibility from 300 to a minimum of 75 meters. The use of this technology also depends on the level of training of crews and airlines. Obtaining ILS CAT III certification by Chisinau Airport will bring great benefits to passengers by minimizing aircraft deviations from the established schedule, as well as landings at backup airports, which previously often occurred in adverse weather conditions. // 21.01.2025 - InfoMarket.
