In 2024, 58.4% of departures from Chisinau and 65.3% of landings at the Moldovan airport were on time, the rest were delayed
Such data is contained in an analytical note by the Institute for European Policies and Reforms (IPRE). Institute expert Stanislav Ghiletchi analyzed 15 thousand flights made to/from Chisinau airport from January to December last year. He found out that the most "punctual" flights were made in March - 78.2% of planes landed and 78.6% took off on time, and the worst results were in July - then 45.8% landed on time and 38.5% of planes took off. The top three most punctual companies for landing were Turkish Airlines (78.9%), Tarom (76.7%) and LOT Polish Airlines (78.1%), while the top three most punctual companies for takeoff were Tarom (62.9%), HiSky (63.6%) and Fly One (62.5%). The expert noted significant differences between punctuality for landing and takeoff, a trend that was also found in previous monitoring reports. Foreign companies operating at Chisinau Airport, although they often land on time, tend to experience significant delays when taking off. This discrepancy may be influenced by local operational factors or external conditions. It is worth noting that in 2024, the largest number of flights were operated from/to Istanbul (12.7% of takeoffs/landings), Antalya (12%), Bucharest (8.4%), London (7%), Warsaw (5.3%), Sharm el-Sheikh (5.2%), Tel Aviv (4.4%, Vienna (4%). About 31% of flights from the airport were operated by Fly One, 20% - HiSky, 10% - Turkish Airlines, 7% - Wizz Air, 6% - Tarom. At the same time, in December 2024, Wizz Air increased the number of flights operated, reaching 17% of all flights at the airport. According to Stanislav Ghiletchi, this indicates a possible increase in competition and a redistribution of market shares in 2025.// 14.01.2025 – InfoMarket.
