This was announced at a press conference by the General Director of the enterprise Oleg Tofilat, presenting the results of activities for the past year. According to him, in particular, in 2022, the total volume of transported goods amounted to 1,232 million tons / km, which is approximately 84% more than in 2021. The head of the Railways recalled that 2022 was marked by an economic crisis, a war in Ukraine, inflation, drought and fuel shortages, but thanks to a clear vision, responsible approach and teamwork, the economic performance of State Enterprise "Railway of Moldova" has grown. Revenues from the transportation of goods amounted to 1.1 billion lei. At the same time, the largest share of revenue was received from the transportation of grain - 27% of the total volume, oil products - 19%, industrial raw materials - 9%, non-ferrous metals - 8%, minerals - 8%, building materials - 7%, animal feed - 5%, cement - 3%, mineral fertilizers - 3%, vegetable oil - 2%, coal, coke - 1%, etc. Oleg Tofilat noted that even in the first month of 2022, before the start of the war in Ukraine, the Railways reached record volumes of transported goods. In January 2022 alone, 95.68 million t/km were transported, while the monthly volume of goods transported in 2021 was always between 25 and 87 million t/km. The largest monthly volumes of transported cargo in 2022 were registered in August - 142.07 million t/km, May - 138.36 million t/km, April - 127.6 million t/km. He recalled that last year the company took an active part in the management of the refugee crisis, in March, special flights to Iasi were organized, and several premises were converted into first aid centers. The State Enterprise "Railway of Moldova" fully repaid the wage and tax arrears accumulated over previous years (wages: 150 million lei, taxes - 48 million lei). Also, the salary of State Enterprise "Railway of Moldova" employees was increased by 89%, increasing on average from 4050 to 7654 lei. After a 24-year break, on November 6, 2022, the movement of trains on the Chisinau-Kyiv route was resumed, at the moment more than 7,000 passengers have been transported.
