The project to modernize the Bender-Causeni-Basarabeasca-Etulia-Giurgiulesti railway section is being successfully implemented in Moldova.

Andrei Spinu, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, said on his social network page that the length of this section exceeds 233 km and the modernization works are going according to schedule, of which he was convinced when he inspected the object. Andrei Spinu was happy to learn that this project has already created over 100 jobs for the residents of the region. He said that he would continue to follow the progress of the works and promised to ensure the modernization of the entire railroad in our country. As InfoMarket agency reported earlier, an open tender was organized to reconstruct the Bender-Basarabeasca-Giurgiulesti railway section. In 2020, the EBRD and EIB declared Temirzhol Zhondeu from Kazakhstan, a member of Kamkor Management group of companies, the winner. According to the contract terms, within 4 years the company will restore and modernize 233 km section of the railroad. After the project completion it will be possible to remove restrictions on weight and speed. For freight trains, the speed will increase to 90 km/h, and for passenger traffic the speed of trains may increase to 120 km/h. The total cost of the project is about 113 million euros. // 13.01.2023 - InfoMarket.
