USAID, through the MISRA project, contributes to the development of the Moldovan Railways and its efficiency.

As noted in the USAID Moldova message, within the framework of the Moldova Institutional and Structural Reform Project (MISRA), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) provides support to Moldovan institutions to help them modernize and increase efficiency. It is emphasized that the institutional development of the Moldovan Railways company is supported by MISRA through the necessary consultations and technical assistance in many areas aimed at strengthening corporate governance. USAID Moldova noted that the first step was to conduct an in-depth study entitled "Development of Moldovan Railways Corporate Governance through Improved Procurement Processes." A study conducted by MISRA experts revealed the need to revise these processes in order to reorient Moldovan Railways - one of the largest state-owned companies - to a corporate approach and made the necessary recommendations for this step. The main components assessed were: the regulatory framework (external and internal); functions of management, control and divisions; business processes in the field of procurement and information systems. In addition to the conclusions, the experts also offered functional recommendations for business processes, approval of the procurement plan, internal regulations, corporate structure, information systems, and proposed an agenda for the implementation of the proposed actions. // 12.01.2023 — InfoMarket.
