Moldova has agreed with the European Commission to adjust the Trans-European Transport Network TEN-T by constructing the Unirii Tirgul-Mures - Iasi - Ungheni-Chisinau-Odessa freeway.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development reported this while presenting the department's achievements in the road sector in 2022. As noted, this will ensure the continuity of freight and passenger traffic flows between Ukraine, Moldova and Romania and vice versa. Along with Romania, Moldova has applied for the CEF – Connecting Europe Facility instrument to obtain funding for the construction of the access road and customs infrastructure on the Ungheni-Ungheni bridge and reconstruction of the Leuseni-Albita bridge. In order to increase responsibility for the management of public roads, clearly delineate responsibilities for the management of land adjacent to roads of public importance, create a system of monitoring and control over the use of funds allocated for the repair/maintenance of public roads, a draft law on the modification of road management has been developed. It is currently in the process of public consultations. In order to create an institutional framework and procedure for road infrastructure safety management to improve the level of safety of existing roads and newly built roads, the development of the Law on Road Infrastructure Safety Management has been initiated. An information system "e-Vinieta" was created, which will allow a more efficient regulation of the mechanism of payment of taxes for road use by vehicles not registered in Moldova. This will accelerate the vignette payment mechanism and consolidate the process of registration and control of its payment. //27.12.2022 - InfoMarket.
