Moldova has opened a part of its national airspace for resumption of regular passenger traffic since March 21.
The Civil Aviation Authority said the decision was taken after a meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on Airspace Management, which analyzed the possibility of opening the national airspace in the context of an armed conflict in the neighboring country. After reassessing the current situation regarding security risks, the commission decided to open part of the airspace in order to resume passenger air traffic. In this connection, starting from March 21, noon, a part of the national airspace is open for use by civil and state aircrafts, thus resumption of regular passenger flights is possible. Taking into account the fact that the airspace of Ukraine is closed and flights in the North, South and East directions cannot be performed, all flights will be directed to and from Romania. The remaining airspace shall remain closed, including class G airspace (non-controlled airspace used specifically for leisure flights), with exceptions, if necessary, stipulated in item 25 of Decree No.1 of February 24, 2022. As mentioned above, the air operators who used to perform regular flights at Chisinau airport are ready to resume their operational activity as soon as possible. It is worth mentioning that on February 24, the Moldovan Parliament declared state of emergency for 60 days because of the situation in Ukraine and threats to Moldova's security. On the same day, the country closed its airspace. // 21.03.2022 - InfoMarket
