Chisinau Airport will create a working group to solve problems during the pandemic.
According to the press service of the airport, due to the mandatory requirements to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the queues and the load on the airport infrastructure have significantly increased. If before the pandemic, the passage of documentary formalities took on average about 30 seconds per passenger, now this procedure takes up to 5 minutes. In addition to the standard passport control procedures, a thorough check of the availability, reliability and correctness of all anti-epidemiological documents is now carried out, taking into account the peculiarities of the document flow in different countries. The matter concerns vaccination certificates, PCR tests for COVID-19, antibody tests, epidemiological maps, declarations of quarantine compliance, and, if necessary, self-isolation, etc. Also, the press service of the airport draws attention to the fact that Chisinau airport, according to international rules, is a first-level airport - that is, not a slot-coordinated airport. It is forced to accept all flights scheduled by airlines, and their schedule is often the same and coincides in time of departure or arrival. Previously, the airport operator had the opportunity to influence the process of adding and changing flights in the schedule by publishing in the aeronautical information collection of Moldova - AIP of RM, which provided that before being included in the flight schedule or launching the schedule, it was necessary to coordinate the additions and changes of flights with the airport operator in order to avoid peak loads, but at some point this was canceled by a decision of one of the previous governments and the airport operator lost all possible levers to control this process. In this regard, the airport administration intends to create a working group, which will include representatives of the Civil Aviation Authority of Moldova, the Border Police, the Customs Service, airlines, as well as ground handling agents. Their main task will be to analyze the current situation with COVID-19 and develop additional measures to reduce peak loads on the airport infrastructure. // 27.09.2021 - InfoMarket
