
Imports to Moldova increased in January-June 2021 by 36.5%, amounting to $3 billion 266.4 million versus the same period in 2020.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) informed that, at the same time, traditionally, most of the goods were imported into the country by road - 86.6% of the total. Railway transport accounted for 4.7% of total imports, air transport - 2.4%, sea transport - 1.9%, self-propelled imports - 0.6%, postal items - 0.2%, and the share of fixed transport installations (gas pipelines, power grids) - 3.6% of total imports. In particular, relative to the same period of 2020, imports to Moldova of products from EU countries increased for 6 months in 2021 by 38.5% - to $1 billion 548.5 million, from the CIS countries - increased by 26.8% - to $742.7 million. Import of goods from other states increased by 41.4% - to $975.2 million. The share of EU countries in the total volume of Moldovan imports increased from 46.72% to 47.41%, the share of CIS countries decreased from 24.47% to 22.74%, and the share of other states increased from 28.81% to 29.85%. The TOP countries that accounted for the largest volumes of Moldovan imports in the first half of 2021 included: from Romania (12.9% of total imports), China (11.8%), Russia (11.5%), Ukraine (9%), Germany (8.3%), Turkey (7.2%), Italy (6.7%), Poland (3.8%), France (2.6%), Hungary (2%), Belarus (1.8%), Czech Republic (1.7%), USA (1.6%), Austria (1.5%), Spain (1.4%), Bulgaria and Holland (1.1% each ), Japan (1%), Great Britain (0.9%).
