Avtostrada has begun preparatory work for the construction of a bridge across the Dniester on the Yampil-Cosauti border of Ukraine and Moldova.

Avtostrada has begun preparatory work for the construction of a bridge across the Dniester on the Yampil-Cosauti border of Ukraine and Moldova.

The State Agency of Motor Roads of Ukraine Ukravtodor reported this, noting that this bridge will become part of the transport corridor between the two countries and the continuation of the P-08 Nemyriv-Yampil highway. On the other hand, it will join the Moldovan M2 highway Chisinau - Soroca. Now, on the Ukrainian side, the repair of 116 km of the road in the Vinnytsya region is being completed. According to Ukravtodor, the construction of the bridge is carried out according to the design-build model: the contractor is engaged in both design and construction work. “This model saves time and reduces the cost of project implementation,” the department notes. According to the report, the contractor has already begun the preparatory work process: removing the fertile soil layer, cutting down overgrowths and arranging sites for equipment. Completion of the work is planned by the end of 2022. The bridge crossing over the Dniester provides for the construction of two approaches: 1,068 km from the Ukrainian side and 5 km from the Moldovan side. The length of the overpass is planned to be 668 m, the length of the bridge - 641 m, the number of supports - 21 pieces, the height of the supports - from 8 to 40 m. “Now transport communication between Ukraine and Moldova across the Dniester River in the region is provided by a bridge located in the zone of the checkpoint “Mogilev-Podilskyi - Otaci” and by a bridge at the checkpoint“ Bronnitsy–Unguri”, where the permitted mass of vehicles does not exceed 3, 5 tons, and only a ferry line operates at the Yampil - Cosauti border crossing, but it has long failed to meet the requirements of the time and the real needs of the citizens of the states,” Ukravtodor emphasizes. The new bridge in Yampil will improve communication between the two neighboring countries and will reduce the travel time on the Kyiv-Chisinau route,” the State Agency said. As InfoMarket agency reported earlier, the Ukrainian-German group of companies Autostrada"won a tender for the construction of a bridge across the Dniester Yampil-Cosauti, pledging to build it for 3 billion 386 million hryvnia. // 16.08.2021 - InfoMarket.
