The repair of a 17.6 km section of the national road R1 Chisinau-Ungheni-Sculeni was carried out by Evrascon (Azerbaijan) at 85%; the cost of the project financed by the EIB is 23 million euros.

The State Roads Administration reported this, noting that this was discussed during a meeting held with representatives of the contractor to discuss progress in the repair work. It was noted that in the repair of this road section, which crosses the settlements of Vatra and Straseni, the work has been completed at about 85%. The contractor is currently laying asphalt, constructing a drainage system and sidewalks. Earlier, the State Roads Administration expressed concern about the stagnation of repair work on this section, which was to be completed in 2016, and asked the contractor for explanations and clarifications. Evrascon JSC has assured that in August this year it will receive financial support from the head office of the parent company (Azerbaijan) to overcome this situation. The project for the renovation of a section of the R1 road worth more than 23 million euros is financed through a loan provided to the Moldovan government by the European Investment Bank. // 04.08.2021 – InfoMarket
