According to the National Bureau of Statistics, 4.8 million people were transported in April, which is 45.5% less than in April last year. It is noted that in April 2021, compared to April last year, the volume of passenger traffic increased by all types of transport: by road - 4.7 million people, by rail - 44.3 thousand people, by air - 37.5 thousand people, by river transport - 23.9 thousand people. At the same time, in January-April 2021, there was a decline in passenger traffic in all categories of transport, with the exception of river transport - they transported 76.2 thousand people, which is 81% more than in the same period last year. 121.3 thousand passengers used air transport in Moldova, which is 61% less than a year earlier, and 185 thousand passengers used rail transport in January-April 2021, which is 32.5% less than the same period in 2020. Most of the passengers were traditionally transported by road, which accounted for 98% of the total passenger traffic in the first 4 months 2021. In January-April 2021, buses and minibuses transported 18 million 962.3 thousand passengers in Moldova, which is 6.4% less compared to the same period of the previous year. In the first 4 months of 2021, the largest number of passengers transported by buses and minibuses fell on the transport companies of Chisinau municipality - 51.2%.
