The movement of all trains along the Balti railway junction was suspended from 20:30 on May 6 for an indefinite period of time

The management of the Balti track distance issued an order to close the traffic on this section of the railway, which is under the jurisdiction of this structure, due to the downtime of workers serving the tracks in this direction, due to non-payment of salaries for 5 months. The matter concerns the closure of train traffic between Balti and Ribnita and Balti and Ungheni. As explained by the chairman of the trade union committee of the Balti railroad workers Andrei Tibirnac, the railroad workers announced the downtime on May 4. According to the rules, in a situation where there is no inspection of the tracks, the supervisor first limits the speed on the particular sector of the railway, and later closes traffic on the tracks, which happened on the evening of May 6. From 20:30, traffic between the stations of Buciumeni (18 km from Ungheni) and Mateuti (not far from Ribnita) was stopped. In other words, trains cannot run both in the Ungheni direction and in the Ribnita direction. As Balti trade union committee of the railway states, the workers being in downtime are trying to get their 5-month-wage debts paid off according to a certain schedule. So far, no payments have been made. Railroad workers have been protesting across the country for months. // 07.05.2021 – InfoMarket
