The Chisinau trolleybus fleet to be renewed, including through the issue of municipal bonds totaling 50 million lei.
This was discussed during public consultations on the project “Modernization of the Chisinau trolleybus fleet”, which were organized in cooperation with the Independent Analytical Center Expert Grup. To implement this project, the Chisinau City Hall intends to attract financial resources totaling about 99.2 million lei. Expert Grup Executive Adrian Lupusor noted that municipal bonds are financial instruments with a low level of risk and an attractive interest rate for investors, and for the Chisinau City Hall, this is an additional source of funds for financing capital investments. According to him, within the framework of the project financed by the Dutch Embassy, 3 mayoralties in Moldova, selected on the basis of an open tender, will receive support in the process of issuing municipal bonds: Chisinau, Ceadir-Lunga and Sîngera. Adviser to the mayor's office, Vladimir Mitru, informed that in the budget for 2021, 99 million lei were planned for the purchase of trolleybuses. As part of the partnership with Expert-Grup, it was decided that the source of coverage for the purchase of a part of vehicles in the amount of 50 million lei should be provided through the issue of municipal bonds. “According to the agreements with Belkommunmash (Белкоммунмаш), we must pay for trolleybuses in advance; delivery is carried out within 3 months after the first installment is paid. Thus, 49 million lei will be covered by a loan, and the rest - by issuing municipal bonds. We must start the procurement process at the beginning of the year, so that in the second half of 2021 we already have enough trolleybuses on the streets of the city,” the mayor's adviser clarified. // 05.03.2021 - InfoMarket.
