The Strategy for the Development of Infrastructure for Alternative Transport in Chisinau has been submitted for public consultations.

The Strategy for the Development of Infrastructure for Alternative Transport in Chisinau has been submitted for public consultations.

The project was developed by the Chisinau City Hall, with the support of the public association ECOPRO in partnership with UNDP Moldova, Green City Lab and Automobil Club Moldova. The strategy was developed in connection with the growing number of citizens who prefer to move around the city using alternative transport (bicycle, scooter, etc.). The aim of the project is to improve urban mobility, environmental situation and public health by integrating bicycles and other alternative transport into the overall system of urban transport infrastructure as a full-fledged mode of transport. The main results expected after the implementation of the Strategy for the Development of Infrastructure for Alternative Transport in Chisinau by 2026 are: creation of a network of alternative transport routes with a total length of 200 km, which will connect all sectors of Chisinau; changing the attitude of residents to alternative transport; an increase in the share of alternative transport in relation to the total share of daily movements of all types of transport up to 1%; an increase in the number of bicycle parking lots near government agencies, educational institutions and leisure centers. The draft strategy can be found on the website www.chisinau.md, and opinions and proposals on the strategy are accepted electronically https://forms.gle/Mw1x5VC33soQhHfo7. // 03.03.2021 - InfoMarket.
