As InfoMarket was informed in the National Bureau of Statistics, in particular, the volume of cargo transportation by enterprises of railway, road, river and air transport in February 2021 amounted to 932.8 thousand tons, which is 23.5% less than in the same month of the previous of the year. Herewith, in February 2021, in comparison with the same period of the previous year, the volume of cargo transportation by rail decreased by 44.3% - to 191.5 thousand tons, by road - decreased by 15% - to 737.3 thousand tons, by air transport - decreased by 3.2% - to 0.1 thousand tons, and by river transport - decreased by 46.6% - to 3.9 thousand tons. For two months of 2021, the volume of cargo transportation was equal to 1 million 744.6 thousand tons, which is 19.8% lower than the indicator for the same period in 2020. In particular, in two months of 2021, approximately 340.1 thousand tons of goods were transported by rail, which is 43.8% less than in the same period of 2020. Most of the cargo is still transported by road (79.2% of the total). Thus, the volume of cargo transportation by road in January-February 2021 amounted to more than 1 million 380.9 thousand tons, which is 11.2% less than in the same period of 2020. At the same time, the largest volumes of traffic by road in the first 2 months of 2021 was provided by the enterprises of Chisinau municipality - 55.1% of the total, followed by transport companies from the development regions Center - 24.1%, North - 13.8%, South - 4.6% and ATU Gagauzia - 2.4%. Cargo transportation by air in January-February 2021 amounted to 0.2 thousand tons, decreasing by 9.8% compared to the same period last year, and by river transport - increased by 53.9% - up to 23.4 thousand tons.
