Pensions will be indexed in Moldova by 10% from April 1

Pensions will be indexed in Moldova by 10% from April 1

This is stipulated by the relevant law, passed by the Parliament in the second reading. The law on indexation of pensions from April 1 stipulates that the indexation coefficient of 10% will be applied only to the part of the pension, which does not exceed the average monthly salary in the economy, forecasted for 2025, in the amount of 16100 lei. This mechanism will allow, on the one hand, protecting the purchasing power of pensions that do not exceed the average salary and, on the other hand, reducing the gap between high and low pensions. The minimum pension will amount to 3055 lei. In order to ensure the payment of pensions and other social benefits in indexed amount, the National Social Insurance Agency (CNAS) will amend the information system “Social Protection”. Accordingly, CNAS, in accordance with its functional powers, will automatically index pensions and social benefits. In recent years, the minimum pension in Moldova has increased from 1188 to 3055 lei, while the average pension has doubled - from 2255 to 4407 lei. // 06.03.2025 - InfoMarket
